Even after your warranty period ends, Unistellar is committed to helping you keep your product in top condition. Here’s how to proceed if your product needs repair and is no longer under warranty.
This article also applies if your telescope was damaged due to misuse or accidental damage. The accidental damage can be covered by Unistellar Care.
What should I do first?
Start by contacting our support team through the Unistellar Help Center.
We will need you to provide essential details like:
-
The product’s serial number
-
A detailed description of the issue
-
Images of the mechanical damage
-
Videos that will help our technicians make an accurate diagnosis.
Is there a diagnostic process?
Yes. Every product, under or out of warranty, must undergo a diagnostic check to identify the issue before any repairs are authorized.
Will I receive a quote?
If the remote diagnostic can be completed, and if the repair is not covered by warranty, you’ll receive a repair quote before any further steps are taken. Sometimes, we will ask you to send your unit to a repair facility before we can estimate the repair cost. Anyway, we'll need your billing and shipping addresses, as well as a phone number, to create a quote.
Can I perform repairs myself?
If the issue is minor, we may offer a quote to send spare parts with instructions for self-repair. This saves time and cost, and is an excellent option if you’re comfortable doing basic maintenance.
I purchased my unit through an estate sale. Is it under warranty?
It depends on when your telescope was sold to the first owner, directly to a customer or a reseller. You can email us your serial number, and we will check the history. Please note that warranties do not reset when the item is resold.
Can I still send it to Unistellar for repair?
If you can't repair the product yourself, we can arrange for it to be sent to one of our authorized repair centers. The customer will need to ship the unit once we provide the shipping address. The typical repair process (including shipping) takes about 20 days, depending on the issue and weather (since we test under real sky conditions).
Can I Send my Telescope Over to Adjust my Focus or Collimation?
No. These adjustments are intended to be performed directly by the user. Even if we make the adjustments for you, they may be altered or undone during return shipping. For guidance, please take a look at our resources to help you adjust your device safely and effectively.
