Do we layer downloaded images or is it real?


Yes, it is real, we do NOT make any overlay of any preexisting images. The image is formed from photons being collected at the time you are observing, in real-time. You are doing astronomy, not watching a movie, see what is happening at the moment in the dark sky.

If a plane, a shooting star, or something else passes while you observe, you will see its trace on the sensor and in the eyepiece. We have a few examples like this on our Facebook page. This is also why you can make useful contributions to science on transient events.

By the way, the video from the eVscope is streamed live to the phone in real-time as well.
