Heads up: This article refers to our old UniData Access service, which is no longer in use. To learn how to download your raw images directly from your telescope, please refer to this updated article. |
Legacy UniData Access Overview
Our previous secure platform, UniData Access, was developed for users to retrieve raw data (FITS, TIFF, PNG) processed from their telescope’s onboard storage.
Until early 2024, users could link their telescope to their email in order to request raw data. However, this platform is no longer supported.
If your data was uploaded to our servers and your telescope was associated, the platform would send you a download link via email. The download included organized subfolders by mode (Enhanced Vision or Citizen Science), with image stacks, metadata, and raw shots.
Important Notes from the Deprecated System
- Data was only available for 30 days after upload.
- New uploads replaced previous data once a download link was generated.
- Users could only choose one output format per request (.fits, .tiff, or .png).
- Raw images were gray due to Bayer pattern encoding (RGGB) and required demosaicing to reveal color.
- The support team did not provide image processing guidance.
This method has been fully replaced by direct access through your telescope’s Wi-Fi network and browser interface, explained in the linked article above.
