If you're passing your telescope on to someone else, here’s what you need to know:
Warranty
The 2-year warranty is transferrable — make sure to give the new owner a copy of your original invoice.
There’s no need to notify us about the change of ownership; the serial number will do the trick.
Reset the telescope
Before handing it over, we recommend resetting the telescope’s network settings:
-
Turn it on.
-
Press the on/off button 10 times (about half a second each press).
-
The LED will briefly turn purple and then go back to red/blue, which means the reset is done.
This step ensures the new user can set up the telescope smoothly with their own device.
Wipe the data
You may want to free up space on your telescope data by uploading or deleting files via the Direct Data Download platform.
Citizen Science registration
If you’ve created a User Account in the Unistellar app and signed up for Citizen Science, delete your account from the app. That will automatically remove your Citizen Science registration within 48 hours.
If you don’t have a User Account, but you did register for Citizen Science, just send us a quick message on the Citizen Science Slack, and we’ll remove your registration manually.
Keep in mind: any data you've uploaded or science results generated with your telescope won’t be deleted — they remain part of the Unistellar project. The new owner will only have access to the data and results they create themselves.
