ODYSSEY & ODYSSEY PRO: Everything You Need to Know About the Battery

Telescopes from the ODYSSEY range (ODYSSEY and ODYSSEY PRO) are powered by a removable and rechargeable internal battery, designed to be easily replaced without tools.

After a night of imaging during colder months, wait until the next morning to recharge your telescope. Cold temperatures can temporarily affect battery performance.

You can also use your telescope while the battery is charging. Charging time may vary between 4 hours (when off) and 6 hours (while in use). To charge the battery, we recommend using the official UNISTELLAR charger (USB-C 5V 2.4A). Do not use adaptive or fast chargers.

Unlike the Expert range models, ODYSSEY telescopes feature two rows of four LEDs, located on either side of the main button. The four LEDs on the right indicate the battery level:

• Briefly press the telescope's main button to light them up.
• Each LED represents approximately 25% of the total charge.
• For example, if two out of four LEDs are on, the battery is approximately 50% charged.

When charging, the LEDs light up in blue. They may also appear red depending on your chosen LED color settings.

You can see a charging icon in the telescope settings; it's the same for all the telescopes.

When away from home or out in the field, you can also charge your telescope using a powerbank. Make sure to use a powerbank with a USB 5V / 2A minimum output. As a guide, a 2000 mAh powerbank will provide about one hour of runtime.

A tip for charging: switch on your telescope, plug in the charger, then switch it off and leave it plugged in overnight. Once the charge is complete, unplug the charger.

The battery can be removed and replaced easily thanks to its clip-in system. However, we do not recommend buying one in advance: an unused battery naturally loses capacity over time. It's best to order a new one only when needed.
