How to Perform a 360 Calibration on Your ENVISION Binoculars

Follow

360 Calibration helps improve the accuracy of the augmented reality display on your ENVISION binoculars.

By performing several alignments in different directions, you can achieve a more accurate and stable display, reducing the need for frequent recalibration during your observations.

1. When should you perform a 360 Calibration?

We recommend performing this procedure when using your binoculars for the first time to improve the accuracy of the augmented reality overlay.

It is particularly useful if you regularly notice misalignment between the displayed information and the objects you are observing, or if you frequently need to use the calibration button to realign the display.

2. What are the best conditions for performing a 360 Calibration?

Choose a location with a clear view of the sky or landscape, where you can easily identify reference points such as stars, distinctive landscape features, or familiar points of interest.

Stay away from metal objects (vehicles, buildings, poles, etc.) and magnets, as they may interfere with your binoculars' sensors.

3. How to perform a 360 Calibration?

In the UNISTELLAR app:

Open your binocular settings by tapping the binocular icon in the bottom-left corner of the screen.

Select 360 Calibration, then tap Next.

Choose Terrestrial Calibration or Celestial Calibration, depending on your observing environment.

Tap Start to begin the procedure.

Align the augmented reality display using the calibration button on your binoculars, selecting several reference points in different directions (north, south, east, and west).

Wait for confirmation. If the calibration fails, try again from a more open location and perform additional alignments.

4. How to interpret the calibration score?

A score out of 10 appears at the bottom of your binoculars' display. It depends on the number of alignments performed, the variety of directions used, and their consistency.

  • Below 3/10: Calibration not validated.
  • 3 to 4/10: Calibration validated, but improvement may be limited.
  • 5 to 7/10: Good calibration.
  • Above 7/10: Very good calibration.

You do not need to reach 10/10. A score above 7/10 already provides excellent results, and any further improvements will be barely noticeable.

5. A few useful tips

  • Only one calibration is needed, whether performed during the day or at night.
  • Alignments closer to the horizon are generally more accurate than those near the zenith.
  • If the display remains misaligned in certain directions, perform additional alignments.
  • If misalignment reappears after several weeks or months, repeat the 360 Calibration procedure.

Make the most of the augmented reality features of your ENVISION binoculars, and happy observing!
