We recommend the following temperature range for your UNISTELLAR Telescope
- storage: -15 °C (5 °F) → +60 °C (140 °F) (recharge your battery regularly if storage > 2 months)
- storage and recharge: 10 °C (50 °F) → +40 °C (104 °F)
- observation and recharge: 10 °C (50 °F)→ +40 °C (104 °F)
- observation: 0 °C (32 °F) → +40 °C (104 °F)
Tip: The UNISTELLAR Telescope's performance will be optimized if its mirror reaches thermal balance. If the temperature is below 0 °C, we recommend turning on your UNISTELLAR Telescope and taking it out at least 15 minutes (30 minutes is better) before you start observing. Whether the telescope is ON or OFF, it does not matter.
In sub-freezing temperatures, certain precautions should be taken when the telescope is plugged into a power outlet:
- eVscope and eQuinox: There is no risk to the device. However, the battery will not charge and the power supply will not be active, making it unnecessary to plug it in under these conditions.
- Odyssey: There is also no risk. The battery will not charge, but the telescope can operate directly from the mains, allowing you to continue observing normally.
These limitations are due to the safety systems built into the batteries, which prevent charging when the temperature is too low in order to protect the components.
Note: When using your Unistellar telescope in a very cold environment, we recommend covering it to provide some insulation.
After a night of imaging in cold weather, wait until the next day to charge it.
