Recommended Temperature Range and Thermalization for Your UNISTELLAR Telescope

Follow

We recommend the following temperature range for your UNISTELLAR Telescope

  • storage: -15 °C (5 °F) → +60 °C (140 °F) (recharge your battery regularly if storage > 2 months)
  • storage and recharge: 10 °C (50 °F) → +40 °C (104 °F)
  • observation and recharge: 10 °C (50 °F)→ +40 °C (104 °F)
  • observation: 0 °C (32 °F) → +40 °C (104 °F)

Tip: The UNISTELLAR Telescope's performance will be optimized if its mirror reaches thermal balance. If the temperature is below 0 °C, we recommend turning on your UNISTELLAR Telescope and getting it out at least 15 minutes (30 will be better) before you start observing.

Note: If you are using your Unistellar telescope in a very cold environment, we recommend covering it to provide relative insulation.

The The main effect of cold is faster battery drain.
When the temperature is too low, the following icon appears in the battery indicator:

If you see this, do not use your telescope. After a night of imaging in cold weather, wait until the next day to charge it.
