Can I Observe When It's Windy? When I Am On A Ship Or Boat?

Follow

Maximum wind speed: We recommend not exceeding 10 knots (about 18 km/h or 11 mph), and ideally staying below 5 knots (about 9 km/h or 5.5 mph) to ensure good stability and optimal image quality.

Pro tip: Lower your tripod as much as possible to reduce wind exposure and minimize vibrations.

We do not recommend observing when your telescope is placed on an unstable surface (such as a wooden deck, boat, yacht, etc.), as this can cause significant disturbances and disrupt sky tracking. A solid, flat, and stable surface is always best to achieve the highest telescope performance.
