Telescope Settings Explained

How to Access Your Telescope Settings 

You can access your telescope's settings from the home page by tapping the Instrument button or the Settings button .

Then tap your telescope to access its settings.

If the telescope isn't connected to the app, the settings will be grayed out.

Telescope Information

At the top of the settings page, you will find information about your telescope:

• the model and serial number
• the app connection icon (Connected or Offline)
• the battery percentage and the charging icon if the telescope is charging
• the storage percentage
• the Operator or Observer status, with the option to release or take control
• the Shutdown button to park and turn off the telescope, at the top right
• and the ? icon to access our Help Center

Park and Turn Off

You can park and turn off your telescope using the Shutdown button in the upper right corner.

Note: You can also power down your telescope by pressing the physical on/off button for five seconds, but it will not return to the upright position.

The following settings allow you to access various options:

Telescope Wi-Fi Settings

You can view your telescope’s Wi-Fi name (the last six characters correspond to the serial number), change it, and set a password that you’ll be prompted to enter when connecting.

It is recommended that you leave the channel setting on AUTO. These are channels in the 2.4 GHz band. The telescope must communicate on one of them. “Auto” means that the telescope will select the least congested channel on its own, while trying not to interfere with other devices using nearby channels.

Storage

If your telescope’s memory storage is more than 0%, you can upload your data to our server to share your observations with us if you want to participate in science missions, or in case you want to retrieve your RAW data. We recommend keeping your storage low (below 20%), or better, empty.

Sensor calibration

This setting enables you to calibrate the sensor, which is necessary for achieving good image quality.

Download

Enable the Direct Data Download feature to download your RAW images from your telescope to your computer via Wi-Fi.

Limit rotation

Check the rotation limit option to prevent tension on the charging cable when it is connected to your telescope. This option will limit the rotation of your telescope around its azimuth axis.
 

Eyepiece Focus

To display an overlay target in the eyepiece. The eyepiece diopter can be adjusted from -4 to +4: simply turn the dial in either direction to adjust the focus to suit your vision.

The reticle displayed in the eyepiece looks like the image below:

This feature is available only on Odyssey Pro and eVscope telescopes that are equipped with eyepieces.

Finally, at the bottom of the telescope settings page, you will find the telescope's installed firmware version.
