The Planetarium offers a more natural and immersive way to visualize the sky.
You can now connect what you see with the naked eye, its representation in the app, and what you observe with your UNISTELLAR instrument—whether it’s a telescope or ENVISION augmented reality binoculars.
What objects are displayed in my Planetarium?
Celestial Environment
All objects in the UNISTELLAR catalog are represented.
Stars are represented by bright points whose color corresponds to their actual hue.
Deep-sky objects are symbolized by ellipses. Their size corresponds to that of the object, and their color varies by type: yellow for clusters, blue for galaxies, and purple for nebulae.
Terrestrial Environment
Through a partnership with the PeakFinder app, UNISTELLAR offers the first Planetarium that incorporates the terrain around you. The app also provides information about visible points of interest (mountain peaks, city centers, waterfalls, beaches, etc.). Object data sheets are linked to these points, and you can perform automatic pointing (Goto) using UNISTELLAR ENVISION binoculars.
How do I point my instrument at an object using the Go-to option?
Navigate through the Planetarium, tap an object, then tap Goto.
The pointing process will vary depending on the instrument connected to the app.
If you are using a telescope, it will automatically move toward the targeted object.
If you are observing with your ENVISION binoculars, a red arrow on the screen will indicate the direction in which to move your binoculars.
How do I filter the objects displayed in the Planetarium?
Tap the Filter button to view only the objects that interest you.
Note that the Planetarium filters and the catalog filters are linked: any changes to the Planetarium filters will also affect the catalog, and vice versa.
Note: The database of these objects will be updated regularly to provide you with new observation ideas.
What are the settings options for the Planetarium?
The Settings button lets you show or hide certain elements.
-
Day/Night/Auto Mode: Two backgrounds (day or night) are available. In Auto Mode, the background automatically adjusts based on the time of day.
-
Landscape: shows or hides the terrestrial environment.
-
Peak Names: shows or hides peak and other point-of-interest names.
-
Visible Sky Area Window: As in previous versions of the app, you can set a visible window. If an obstacle (such as a tree or building) blocks part of the sky, use this setting to represent it on the planetarium and filter the visible objects.
-
Instrument: if you are connected to an instrument, it will appear on the Planetarium. This button lets you hide its position when it is in the way.
-
Constellations: shows or hides the constellations
